The President was a short-lived, but quite successful project of Pim Koopman and singer/keyboardist Okkie Huysdens. In the period 1983-1985, this band recorded 2 albums ('By Appointment Of' and 'Muscles') and a couple of singles. The single "You're Gonna Like It" (1983) became their biggest hit.
The albums were released on CD, but are not easy to find. The first one can still be found sometimes, as it was released in Japan in large quantities. The second album is very rare!

Ik had destijds de LP 'By Appointment Of' aangeschafd (Muscles kwam volgens mij wel direct uit op CD) en heb hem recentelijk gedownload via -inderdaad- een Japanse torrent.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDe beste nummers vond ik op hun eerste album staan, maar een ballad als "Don't wanna wait for love" van Muscles komt aardig in de buurt van "Makin' Millionaires".
De foto op de binnenhoes van "By Appointment Of" is briljant, pakkie shag en een biertje op tafel en Pim met die onstervelijke tekst op z'n T-shirt: I survived the Diesel Album 1982.
Uiteraard zal ik op 22 november in Paradiso zijn, ik hoop dat er dan ook nog wat werk van The President gespeeld zal gaan worden.
En wie een rip wil hebben van Muscles, moet het hier maar ff laten weten.
